Luis Gonzalez Jersey . -- Cal Babych tied the game with his second goal of the season early in the second period as the Calgary Hitmen won their sixth in a row, defeating the Prince Albert Raiders 4-2 on Tuesday in Western Hockey League play. Brady Brassart put Calgary (28-8-5) ahead for good at 17:01 of the period. Tomas Andrlik got the Raiders (21-18-2) on the board first with his first goal of the season at 2:57 of the opening period. Greg Chase tied it for the Hitmen with his 25th goal of the season, and Calder Brooks put the Raiders back in front before the period was out. Zane Jones rounded out the scoring for Calgary 41 seconds into the third period. Chris Driedger made 24 saves for the Hitmen, while Cole Cheveldave handled 22 shots for the Raiders. Calgary was 0 for 3 on the power play, and Prince Albert was 0 for 4. --- WHEAT KINGS 5 REBELS 2 BRANDON, Man. -- Chad Robinson snapped a 2-2 tie at 4:30 of the third period to lead the Wheat Kings past Red Deer. Quintin Lisoway scored in the first period, and Richard Nejezchleb made it 2-0 Brandon in the second, before the Rebels tied it in the period with goals from Evan Polei and Grayson Pawlenchuk just over two minutes apart. Tyler Coulter and Colton Waltz rounded out the scoring for the Wheat Kings (22-16-4). Jordan Papirny made 29 saves for Brandon, while Patrik Bartosak stopped 35 shots for Red Deer (20-19-2). --- TIGERS 2 BLADES 1 MEDICINE HAT, Alta. -- Chad Butcher scored the winner at 15:33 of the third period to give the Tigers their win over Saskatoon. The goal was just Butchers second of the season. Troy Trombley kept the game close for the Blades (12-28-4), making 36 saves, while his Medicine Hat (24-14-3) counterpart Daniel Wapple handled 18 shots. Logan McVeigh opened the scoring for the Tigers in the first period, and Cory Millette tied it for Saskatoon at the 11 minute mark of the third. --- THUNDERBIRDS 9 COUGARS 7 PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. -- Ryan Gropp had three goals and Shea Theodore had three assists in Seattles win over the Cougars. Its the second time this season Prince George (16-22-5) allowed nine goals in a game. Adam Henry, Calvin Spencer, Scott Eansor, Alexander Delnov, Evan Wardley and Roberts Lipsbergs also scored for the Thunderbids (23-14-5) in their highest scoring game of the season. Todd Fiddler had three goals and two assists for the Cougars. Zach Pochiro had two goals and two assists, while Klarc Wilson and Brad Morrison completed the scoring for Prince George. Logan Flodell made 21 saves for Seattle. Ty Edmonds made 18 stops for the Cougars. --- AMERICANS 2 BLAZERS 1 Kennewick, Wash. -- Tri-City did all its scoring on the power play, with Lucas Nickles getting the winner at 18:22 of the third period to edge Kamloops. Brian Williams opened the scoring in the second period for the Americans (19-19-4). That lead was short-lived, with the Blazers (10-28-4) Josh Connolly tying it 20 seconds later. BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Sabres centre Mikhail Grigorenko was back in Buffalo on Wednesday after the NHL blocked the teams attempt to send the rookie to the minors on a two-week conditioning assignment. In reaching its decision, the league cited its agreement with the Canadian Hockey League preventing teams from assigning players with junior eligibility to the American Hockey League. "We determined that the assignment would not have been consistent with our obligations under the leagues agreement with the CHL," NHL spokesman Frank Brown wrote in an email to The Associated Press. Interim coach Ted Nolan accepted the leagues ruling, which came a day after the Sabres demoted Grigorenko to their AHL affiliate in Rochester N.Y., for conditioning. "We thought we were doing it by the rulebook, but unfortunately we werent," Nolan said. "Now hes back with us. Well have to sit down and evaluate what the next step is." Players remain on their NHL teams roster and are paid their full salary during conditioning stints, which last no more than 14 days. The question became whether the 19-year-old Grigorenko qualified for assignment. The ruling limits the Sabres options in determining how to develop a player who has had difficulty earning regular ice time in Buffalo. Grigorenko has two goals and one assist in 15 games this season and had missed two straight games and five of seven as a healthy scratch before being assigned to AHL Rochester. The Sabres must now choose between keeping Grigorenko on theeir roster and returning him to his Canadian junior team in Quebec. Ivan Rodriguez Astros Jersey. . Rather than preparing to play against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday, Grigorenko practiced with the Sabres in Buffalo before the team travelled to Philadelphia for a game against the Flyers on Thursday. Nolan said he had not yet determined whether Grigorenko would play. The NHLs ruling was the latest twist in whats become an unsettled professional career for the Russian-born player, who was selected by Buffalo with the No. 12 pick in the 2012 draft. Grigorenko is now playing for his third coach in Buffalo, after Nolan replaced Ron Rolston, who was fired last week. After opening last season playing in Quebec, Grigorenko earned a spot on the Sabres roster at the end of the NHL lockout. He had a goal and four assists in 22 games before the Sabres elected to return him to Quebec. Grigorenko then came back to Buffalo to play the final three games of the season and two more for Rochester in the playoffs after Quebecs season ended. The Sabres would prefer Grigorenko develop in the AHL rather than the juniors. "Hes a real nice young man. Hes just put in this predicament," Nolan said. "Now we have to go back to the drawing board and see what else might work, and what the best situation is for him to develop his skill and be the dominant player we all think he could be in this organization."
